The Willy Wonkas of Soap

The Yorkshire Soap Company is a dreamy, local soap store that I first came across when I moved back to Leeds last September. Believe me when I say, it is dreamy. It is Yorkshire’s answer to an obviously serious need for cake scented toiletries. Every time I went shopping I resisted going in, because I knew I’d come out with very full bags and probably a minus sign on my already-suffering student bank balance. In December I decided it just wouldn’t be right if I didn’t see what Christmassy stuff was on offer, and so our love affair began. I gifted so much from The Yorkshire Soap Co. last Christmas, and was lucky enough to receive a birthday cupcake soap too.

Amazing, am I right?
Everything about this company is right up my street. It’s locally based, as the company was born in Yorkshire, all three stores are located here. The Yorkshire Soap Company was born in a kitchen where soapy gifts were being made up for friends and family, and not having the professional equipment, Marcus and Warren used what they already had in the cupboards: baking cases and cupcake trays.
So recently I hopped on the train with my mum for a day in York and I couldn’t not share these pictures I snapped in the York shop. The store is beautiful, we spent more than an hour browsing the shelves, smelling all the soaps and candles, and creating mental Pinterest boards for my future home.
If you’re in York make sure you get yourself to the store, whether you’re a local or visiting the town, you won’t be disappointed. Everything is packaged for you free-of-charge and the service in the store is actually really good too, the staff were super attentive to our specific needs. The Yorkshire Soap Co. is pretty much 100% vegan-friendly: no animal ingredients are used in the products, except for honey in some soaps, and there’s no testing on animals either.
Can we also just stop for a second and talk about the fact that you can have one of these amazing tiered cakes as a centrepiece at your wedding?!
We encourage browsing online but actually shopping in store, because next door is The Imaginarium, an ‘interiors wonderland’ which isn’t available online  – literally #goals for decorating my future home. Happy shopping!
Have you been shopping in York? Have you visited The Yorkshire Soap Co.? Or any other stores like it? As always, please get in touch on twitter (@wanderwomanco) or instagram (@wanderwomanco) if you’ve seen anything similar or love the store just as much as I do.
Here are the links for all the products in the photographs above and extras that we splashed out on, but are justified – because on the plus side, my casa and me smell fab.
